 I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Auburn University.

I continued my education and received a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Alabama A and M Universtiy in 1992. In 2016, I received my Educational Leadership Certificate.

I was trained as part of the "Sweet 16" in 1998 by the Alabama Reading Initiative. I have been recertified with ARI and attended ARI Reading Coach Internship.

I have been trained in AMSTI Math 6th grade year 1 and 2, and I have also received training in AMSTI Science 6th grade year 1 and 2.


I began teaching in 1988 at Lee Street Elementary in Jonesboro, Georgia.  I taught sixth grade science and language arts.  In 1989 I moved to Alabama and began teaching fifth and sixth grade at Walnut Grove School in New Market.  I taught Math and language arts during my time at Walnut Grove. In 1998 I began teaching fifth grade science and language arts at Discovery Middle School in the newly created Madison City Schools.  Horizon Elementary has been my home since 1999.  While at Horizon I have taught fifth and sixth grade.  I have experience teaching science, math, and language arts.  In 2007 I became the Reading Coach at Horizon. In 2013 I became the Instructional Partner at Horizon.



I am originally from Decatur, Georgia. In 1989 I moved to Alabama. My husband Bill is employed at Boeing.  We have two children. My son enjoys pitching and playing outfield for his baseball team.  My daughter currently attends collage. 

Our family has a sweet little attack dog named Lucy.  She enjoys sleeping, eating, and barking.

We enjoy traveling and attending sporting events.  War Eagle!
